Upholding the education philosophy of “cultivate talents who are excellent in both ethics and skills with intelligence-led and information-driven”, the School of Communications Information offers five majors of intelligent communication technology, software technology, computer network technology, animation producing technology, and application for information security technology, among which intelligent communications technology is a key major supported by the central government and a high-level professional agglomeration in Shaanxi Province’s “Double High Plan”. It is equipped with a training room of “national vocational education demonstration and virtual realistic training base” and took the lead in presiding over the national vocational education teaching resource library construction project.
The School of Communications Information boasts excellent faculty with 4 professors, more than 20 people obtaining the title of associate professor and above, and 95% of the ratio of master’s degree and above. It has been successively awarded the provincial pioneering group of teachers’ ethics in Shaanxi Province, a provincial teaching team, a provincial master teacher, a special prize and a second prize of provincial teaching achievement, and a first prize of provincial classroom innovation teaching competition. At present, the School of Communications Information has a total enrolment of 1,400 full-time students. In recent years, those students have achieved fruitful outcome in various international and domestic competitions such as championship for one item in the world-class competition of VEX Robotics, second prize for 4 items in national skills competitions, and first prizes for 8 items at the provincial-level. Two graduates such as Xu Haichao, have been named as pioneering individuals for making contribution and achievement in Shaanxi universities, and Cao Chunmiao and Liu Ping have been successively awarded the “Fei Young Award of China Telecom Scholarship” by the Communist Youth League Central Committee. The School of Communications Information possesses more than 40 full-time and part-time teachers among which there are 4 professors and more than 20 acquired the titles of associate professor or above, with 95% being the ratio of master’s degree or above and 96% or above being the ratio of double-position teachers. In recent years, the teachers have presided over 10 teaching and research projects of provincial and ministerial level, published more than 40 papers in core periodicals, more than 10 patents and software copyrights; won the first prize for one item in the provincial classroom innovation teaching competition and the second prize for one item in the electronic design competition for young teachers; it won a provincial Huang Yanpei Professional Education Award for outstanding teachers as well as a provincial teaching master, a provincial pioneering person in teacher’s morality, and a provincial teaching team. The School of Communications Information is equipped with more than 10 on-campus training rooms having advanced technology and real vocational atmosphere, such as routing and switching and network security, network integrated cabling, intelligent communications technology, PLC control, virtual simulation, animation design and production, software development, computer application, etc. In addition, it is also equipped with 30 off-campus internship bases, among which “Intelligent Communications Control Training Base was awarded as provincial demonstration training base. The School of Communications Information actively promotes the integration of courses and certificates, and takes initiative to connect with the 1+X vocational skills level certificates of “Network Security Assessment” and “Network System Construction, Operation and Maintenance”. Moreover, the school promotes the assessment and appraisal of vocational related skills certificates such as “Ruijie Network Engineer” and “Programming Engineer” together with cooperative enterprises. Pass rate on professional skills certificates of graduates covers 100%. Graduates of our school were well-received by all kinds of employers both inside and outside the province recently, which was reflected in an employment rate of over 97% and the highest starting salary among all majors in the university.
